MEXICAN AMERICAN WAR

OBJECTIVE:
Students will develop understanding about the Mexican-American War. Students will increase their knowledge about the territory involved in the war. They will also use research and develop their own opinion about the Mexican-American War.

MONDAY:Assignment 1 We will start the lessons by posting a reflection on the BLOG page about your opinion about the Mexican American War. Why was it important and mainly how it has changed America. Go to the assignment page for more details. |
TUESDAY:Assignment 2 After watching the video; Rare photographs from the Mexican American War and Using encyclopidias, textbooks, library or any other resources, research One person that was part of the Mexican American war. Write a Three paragraph autobiography on the person. Make sure to include their role in the war and why they were important. |
WEDNESDAY:Assignment 3 After watching the short Video of the Treaty of Guadalupe de Hidalgo, students will make a Timeline containing 10 main events that happened during the War. Along with the timeline, students will write one short paragraph describing the importance of the Treaty of Guadalupe de Hidalgo. |

Theories: cause of the War *Using textbooks and other resources, students will research reasons for the war. There are different theries to determine what caused the war between Mexico and the United States. Read and examine the theories and describe who would support that theory and why. Extra credit is available. |
